Jackie DC Happy Hour Restaurant Review

Jackie DC is a solid happy hour spot in Navy Yard.

 At $9 cocktails we were able to work through almost the entire drink menu without breaking the bank — major win. Server Young kept it attentive and informative. The Maître d' even took us to the back room to see the Jackie mural, which was a cool touch. Food presentation was on point, though normal menu prices are a bit steep for the portion sizes. We'd come back… but only if we're in the area.

22nd St. Landing Seafood Grill and Bar was built in

A good lunch spot for folks in San Pedro the day before a cruise. It was on our list of places to visit and came highly recommended by a friend. In the future I would rather try a new seafood establishment first, before returning here. While the experience was good, with the Oysters Rockefeller being the standout, it was still missing something to warrant a return trip.

W﻿hen in Detroit, one must try deep dish pizza. Reddit suggested this location 2 miles outside downtown & it was a great experience. Good food with good prices, just expect to wait if you arrive 90 minutes after opening.

Cosmo's Snack Bar Restaurant Review

After checking social media & learning about Cosmo's Sunday BOGO 50% off, we decided to try them out. Arriving promptly at 355 pm (they open at 4 pm) allows for the first choice of seating in the intimate dining room. We picked a table near the entrance to the back patio & then promptly went to the counter to order. Overall we had a great experience & would definitely return in the future.

3rd & Fernwood Restaurant Review

We recently had the pleasure of dining at 3rd & Fernwood and were thoroughly impressed. The food was not only delicious, but beautifully presented, making each dish a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. The service was top-notch; our server was friendly, attentive, and made us feel well-cared for throughout the evening. We also appreciated the clean and inviting atmosphere, which added to the overall enjoyment of our meal. While the prices were perhaps a tad higher than we'd typically prefer, the quality of the food and the overall experience more than justified the cost. We left feeling completely satisfied and are already planning our return visit. 3rd & Fernwood is a true gem and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.

Atlantic Fish Company Review

We stumbled upon Atlantic Fish Company just before the dinner rush and snagged a table, but we'd definitely recommend making a reservation, especially for later dining.

Our server, Karina, was an absolute gem! Attentive, friendly, and genuinely personable – she really elevated our experience.

And the food? Amazing! Seriously, we'd travel back to Boston just to savor those flavors again. The branzino was a highlight, and we loved that it came with two sides included.

A few minor observations: the tables for two are a bit cozy (read: small), and the bathroom is down a flight of stairs, which poses an accessibility issue.

But those are minor quibbles in an otherwise fantastic experience. Hot towels at the end of the meal were a lovely touch! Overall, Atlantic Fish Company is a must-try for seafood lovers in the Boston area. Highly recommend!

Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken Review

We always enjoy the fried chicken at Astro. They also have a variety of donuts with interesting flavor combinations, with the Maple Bacon and Key Lime Pie donuts being our favorites. While some donuts weren't as impressive, we had a positive experience overall. We recommend ordering donuts online as they tend to sell out. A minor drawback was the cleanliness, which could be improved.

Tiger Fork DC Restaurant Review

We had a great experience at Tiger Fork DC. While the restaurant is tucked away in an alley, which made it a little tricky to find, the delicious food and drinks were well worth the effort. We started with the Salt & Pepper Calamari, which was perfectly crispy and seasoned. For our main course, we shared the Beef Brisket Chow Fun, and it was fantastic – flavorful with plenty of tender brisket.

We also enjoyed the creative cocktails. The Victoria Harbour was silky smooth and semisweet, while the Nathan Road was a bit stronger but still very enjoyable. The Chinese Kitchen, with its flaming cinnamon stick, was a fun and flavorful experience. The Monkey King Bread was a tasty dessert, though we would have preferred it a bit softer.

The service was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was pleasant. While the location is a bit unusual, we appreciated the unique atmosphere. We'll definitely be back, especially for happy hour at the bar.

Chaplin's DC Restaurant Review

Restaurant Week saves $2 from al carte. If you have specific menu favorites, order those during their daily happy hour to have a great meal.

I was excited about Fourk's reopening after the closing news. However as a prior patron I was left feeling a bit underwhelmed. 

I've been to the dinner service several times in the past & am not sure if today's experience was a change in the flow going forward or just the new team (day 3 of reopening) working things out. 

The introductions started around 10 minutes late & were a bit rushed. While in prior dinners there was an eloquent & elaborate overview of the concept, the flow of the night & the meaning of the paintings on the wall, this most recent dinner was a tad curt & not as engaging as I have come to expect from the evening. 

Alexis & her team were cordial but the evening did not exude the homey, communal atmosphere I equate to Fourk. I also found myself explaining the process to my dinner party as they had not been before, something that should have been covered in the intro. Lastly when dishes were cleared the team did not replenish missing cutlery which resulted in the team serving the 3rd course and walking away, unaware we had not way of eating it. 

During introductions the chef seemed to struggle on describing what was on the menu for the night, an oddity in my mind. Shouldn't you know the intimate details of the dinner menu?

1st course: Panzanella Salad w/ Balsamic Vinaigrette (8/10) | Nice & fresh, great starter. I don't like capers & enjoyed them very much in this dish. The Salento pairing was nice & not over powering. 

2nd course: Sesame-Ginger Ahi Tuna on a Crispy Wonton w/ Avocado Cream, Sriracha Aoli (9.25/10) | Best course of the night. The Chianti was a bit dry for my taste yet paired perfectly with the crispiness of the wontons & balances out the avocado cream & Aoli. 

3rd course: Cola Braised Short Rib w/ Fried Shallota & Parmesan White Polenta (6/10) | Worst course of the night. While the polenta was creamy & the rib was tender, the dish came out tepid & was paired with a chilled Syrah which magnified that the gelatinous consistency of the almost cold dish. As the main course this was very disappointing. 

4th course: Peach Cobbler w/ Vanilla Ice Cream & Bourbon Caramel Sauce (8/10) | The dessert course was good but I am not sure there was peach in it as it taste more akin of a coffee cake. The prosecco pairing was a bit odd at first but worked well.

Overall a subpar evening (expectation did not match reality). I will wait for the new team to iron out the small details before returning. Note the price increases to $64 (from $54) in September.

Vaga Brunch Review

Our visit to Vaga blew us away. Every dish we tried was delicious, especially the Ponto Pancakes – that miso caramel was a game changer. The Chicken Sandwich was also fantastic, and adding an egg took it to the next level. Beyond the amazing food, the presentation was beautiful, the service was friendly and attentive, and the whole place felt clean and inviting. Honestly, we can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. It's become a new favorite spot for us.
