Bottom Line

What we loved

Stylish room with great views & comfortable bed.
Large bathroom with spray jet bathtub
Plush bathrobes (& slippers)! So comfortable I considered buying them (but didn't since the suitcase had minimal space left).
Illy in-room coffee machine.
The front desk staff was nice & responsive.

What we did not like

Weird check-in, this hotel is on the top 3 floors of the JW Miami Marquis & you need a key card to get to the 39th floor to check in. The JW front desk checked us in (after walking to the elevator & walking out after realizing we needed a key card).
Unlike Hyatt which doesn't charge resort fees on award bookings, I had to pay a $25 resort fee for services I never used.
Also unlike Hyatt where I don't pay for parking, valet parking here was $55 for the night. The attendant who helped us was not very attentive as they were on the phone (& stayed on the phone) when we pulled up. We read reviews that it takes about 30 minutes for the valet to get the car, so we requested it 30 minutes before we needed it & headed downstairs when they said it was ready. The entrance/valet is super small & gets a bit congested.

Verdict

Located on the top floors of the JW Marquis Miami, after living in South Florida for 7 years, finally got an opportunity to visit this hotel.

Used 40k points to book a Rockwell room & were upgraded to the O'Keefe. Nicely appointed room, with large bathroom with double vanity, soaker tub & shower.

Great use of 40k Marriott Bonvoy points, although I was still charged the resort & parking fee. Despite the awkward front desk situation, would definitely stay here again.
