The Bottom Line

What We Loved

  • Hotel partners with Nordic Wellness which is a large facility with ample equipment for any workout.
  • Hotel is centrally located, close to the Malmö University, train station and plenty of shops. It is a 10-minute walk to the food hall which has
  • Free breakfast is offered for all and is very substantial and very tasty.
  • Room design was minimalist yet functional.
  • TV is Chromecast-enabled, allowing for additional viewing of cast-able content.
  • Room has 4 outlets, each with one plug port and 2 USB-ports each. We traveled with UK converters & an (USB-C charger block) and were able to easily charge all of our devices.

What We Didn't Like

  • The room lacked storage space to unpack. We spent 3 days living out of my suitcases which were laid open on the bench by the window.
  • Hotel partners with Nordic Wellness, which is a 5-minute walk. Thee is no information provided by the hotel on the gym policy, which would have been appreciated as there is a specific no outside shoes in the gym policy.
  • Shower has no door to enclose it, resulting in water splashing all over the floor.
  • Walls are thin, you can hear the neighbor.
  • Hotel is the top floors of an office building, which was confusing to navigate prior to check-in.
  • Building has 2 small elevators, serving all floors, which during the busy workweek might be congested & slow.
  • Hotel does not require a keycard to access room floors, a safety concern.

The Verdict

For the start of our 5-country Europe anniversary trip we booked Story Hotel Studio Malmö as it was 3,500 Hyatt points per night. With a complimentary upgrade to a King Bed Oceanview room, free breakfast for all, nearby train station, this hotel is an ideal base for a few days visiting the Swedish city.
