The Bottom Line

What We Loved

  • Comfortable King size bed, firm mattress with minimal partner motion transfer.
  • Attentive, courteous personable staff (not too stuffy).
  • Spacious room with minimal functional decor that hid clutter. Appreciated the hardwood floors where the bed was on a large rug.
  • Spacious bathroom with dual vanity, water closet, soaking tub & separate shower. However, I never figured out how to enable the heated floors.
  • During check-in was told the Globalist breakfast credit was $90 per day. Day 1 total of $150 and day 2 total of $230 were fully removed.
  • Large gym with sauna & locker rooms.
  • The hotel has a small indoor pool with great views.
  • Fully stocked mini bar which included two sets of drink glasses and coffee cups.
  • There were fresh flowers in the bathroom.
  • Daily housekeeping and turn-down service.
  • The blacklight test came up negative, and the room was very clean (as expected).
  • Electronic controls of lights and curtains; curtains could be partially opened.
  • Blackout curtains kept 95% of the sunshine out.
  • The room had outlets located on both sides of the bed.
  • US Open art throughout the lobby along with a gallery on the ground floor.

What We Didn't Like

  • Wifi speed slow - unable to get on premium wifi.
  • Two elevator systems - one to the lobby and the other to the guest rooms.
  • Chromecast was not working in the provided panel under the TV.
  • The living room TV did not swivel, which prevented viewing from any location other than directly in front.
  • Expensive dining options.
  • The room did not have USB charging and there were limited available outlets in the “living room”.
  • Our 10th (of 25) floor room looked into the Carnegie Hall offices across the street.

The Verdict

Booked a two-night stay in a King Bed for 50k points before the dynamic pricing went into effect. The week of check-in, the standard King Bed room was listed for $1,325 each night or 35k points. With a great location near Central Park, along with personable staff and modern rooms, we will definitely stay here (on points) again when in New York.
