The Bottom Line
What We Loved
- Granted early check-in (12 pm) & late check-out (4 pm)
- Chromecast functionality on the TV worked well.
- Room had a white noise machine
- Amazing coastline views from the 3rd floor room.
- Comfortable room with large bathroom, ample seating & storage space.
- Utilized the E-Bike rentals that were included in the resort fee. Easy to maneuver & valet staff gave good recommendations for exploring the nearby town.
- Brunch at Vaga was delicious.
What We Didn't Like
- Found an old contact behind the pillows on the sofa.
- There is little privacy when you are on the room balcony, as there is a walking path underneath that is used frequently.
- $55 daily resort fee (waived for Globalist on award stays). Check out inclusions here: https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/hotel/california/alila-marea-beach-resort-encinitas/sanen/policies
- No self-parking available. Valet parking is $60 per night (waived for Globalist on award stays).
- There was a wedding happening that we were not informed about prior to arrival.
The Verdict
Our stay at this hotel was largely enjoyable, with highlights including the stunning coastline views from our comfortable room, the convenient Chromecast TV feature, and the fun we had exploring the area with the included e-bikes. Brunch at Vaga was also a treat. However, we were disappointed by the lack of balcony privacy, the hefty resort fee, and an unexpected wedding that disrupted the peace. We used a Free Category 1 - 7 Award for a one-night stay. It was the perfect weekend stay after our 7 am flight into Long Beach airport and a guaranteed 4pm late check-out.
