Trip from Miami to Tampa on a Megabus
Published on 6/8/2016

Mr and I took a quick trip up to Tampa. We took Megabus ($14) up and flew back down ($70). It was our first experience riding Megabus and despite the bad reviews, it was pretty nice.
We boarded at 6:15 near the Miami airport but could have picked it up at 6:45 near Fort Lauderdale. We stopped two hours later in Fort Myers for a 20-minute break before heading back on the road. Free wifi, and power outlets at each seat for $5 per person? That cannot be beaten. We paid more to get the front seats for a panoramic view.

From the bus stop, we walked to Anise where we had lunch: ‘Stinky Bunz’ (shrimp, pork belly & bbq pork) and ‘Chili Beef Bowl’. Small plate establishment with a Renaissance decor, which was cool. The food was good, but it did not fill us up, which was what we intended since we had dinner plans later that night.

We caught an Uber to the airport (to meet my friend), then took a taxi from the airport to the hotel. We stayed at the Sand Pearl Resort, which was right on the beach.

Took a walk down the beach towards their sister hotel, Opal Sands, and when I came back, the skin under my shorts was two shades lighter than the exposed skin!

Dinner and breakfast the next day were at the Clear Sky Cafe, which was right outside the hotel. Small shop, with great food. We had the calamari, Mahi & shrimp taco, and the Pub Burger. All very good, the Mahi was very fresh and I preferred it over the shrimp taco. My only issue was that I had to order two Mahi tacos, and my friend ordered two Shrimp tacos, then swapped because you could not mix and match the tacos.

We woke up and hit the beach to watch the sunrise, then went to eat. For breakfast, I had the Square Deal with French Toast, and Mr had the Ribeye Steak & Eggs.
We checked out, called an Uber, and flew home. The flight was less than 40 minutes, but I took a nap. Nice day of relaxation.
