Bottom Line

What we loved

  • We booked a 1 King Bed and were upgraded to an Executive Suite.
  • The hotel emailed a concierge survey 48 hours before arrival; a nice way to set preferences for the stay.
  • We were able to get an 12 pm early check-in, after requesting a 9 am check-in.
  • Room had a nice in-room clothes steamer.
  • TV had Chromecast functionality that was easy to setup. However, the TV output quality was 720p.
  • Good location near Union station & plenty of restaurants and shops.
  • Pleasant front desk staff; prompt response to text requests.
  • Spacious size bathroom with large shower.
  • French toast breakfast at Chez Maggy was delicious.

What we did not like

  • $21.06 destination fee inclusions listed here: https://www.hyatt.com/thompson-hotels/denth-thompson-denver/policies
  • The walls/windows are thin: loud vehicle sounds & music from the street (we were on the fourth floor).
  • The safe would not reopen after placing items in it & locking. (See more details below)
  • The pillows provided were too soft, prefer firmer, memory foam pillows.
  • The room did not have automatic blinds. The metal rods would swing & hit each other making a loud "tink" sound.
  • Well appointed gym is located in a dark, windowless basement.
  • There was no welcome amenity provided.

Verdict

Needed a LoDo hotel to attend the NBA game. With a personable staff, spacious room & good location near shops & restaurant would definitely return.

Our one-night stay was $339.61 ($271.80 rate plus fees & taxes).

Two days before arrival 1 King Bed was listed for $716. Executive Suite ($916) and Skyline Suite ($966) were also available. The hotel was unavailable the prior night. Peak pricing was in effect as the 1 King Bed was listed for 23k points.

Safe issue: Reached out to the front desk who sent up an engineer who after 3 attempts was unable to open it. He left saying he would return however 60 minutes later, nothing. After contacting the front desk, the engineer called back to say they would return in the morning. The next morning after 30 minutes of drilling the safe was opened.
