The Bottom Line
What We Loved
- Million-dollar, oceanfront balcony views.
- Located across the street from Waikiki Beach.
- On-site restaurants were open; the food, was expensive yet tasty.
- The staff was friendly & accommodating.
- The hotel is a self-contained resort with ample shopping located on the ground floor. They offered daily classes and activities including a biweekly Farmer’s Market.
- Wifi had no issues doing Zoom calls on the balcony.
- Shor buffet breakfast was good, with similar food to Regency Club, except Shor came with an omelet station.
- Very responsive text feature.
- Coin laundry is located on the 4th floor.
- The daily $42 resort fee includes Go Pro rental with plenty of accessories.
- Reasonably priced ($200 - $350/night) hotel for location and amenities. The Royal Hawaiian, across the street, starting price was $350/night.
What We Didn't Like
- Rooms are dated with visible wear and tear
- Beach equipment (towels, chairs) are not available prior to 730am. If you want to get an early start on the beach day, you will likely have to bring your own.
- No robes provided - requested via app & they were promptly brought to the room
- The connecting rooms automatically lock. When we arrived the connecting door was locked & we asked housekeeping to unlock it. The wind from the balcony slammed the door shut & we were unable to access the 2nd room. The same housekeeping attendant let us back in & then left the lock in the “closed” position to prevent future issues.
- Rooms needed a bit more soundproofing. We are able to hear (and feel) when our neighbors open and closed their doors. Also, noise could be heard from the street 38 floors below.
- For the size, the gym was rather small with machines in one space and free weights in another. In the mornings it was pretty packed & hard to use multiple types of equipment.
- The hotel is very large and spread out between two towers.
- YouTube TV Chromecast functionality was not working (known Hyatt/YouTube API issue)
- The TV while large was a bit sluggish. You had to be directly in front of it in order to change the channel.
The Verdict
Booked under Hyatt Privé at $415/night for a Two Queen Oceanfront. Used a Suite Upgrade to confirm into a Two Queen Family Suite. Would definitely return for the great location with tons of activities.
